What is the Origin of the Explosion Shield

  • A the riot shield  is a light-weight security device, usually used to protect people by police as well as some military organizations, however it is it is also used by protesters. The riot shields are usually large enough to protect a person of average size all the way from their head to the knees, although smaller ones with a single hand can also be utilized.

  • They're generally designed to be used for combating riots in order to shield the person against assaults with melee attacks that involve sharp or edged weapons, and throwing projectiles or weapons that are not lethal like water cannons or rubber bullets. They are also used as short-range melee weapons to deter the opponent's force. The majority of riot shields don't offer protection against ballistics; balls are shields that protect are more appropriate when heavily armed resistance is anticipated.

Riot shields are utilized in nearly every country that has an established police force. They are manufactured by a variety of companies. Law enforcement agencies often use them along with the use of a baton. These shields for law enforcement are usually made of translucent polycarbonate so that the bearer is able to observe objects being thrown at them. The riot shields used by protesters typically are constructed using made-up materials like wooden pieces, scrap metal or barrels made of plastic. While riot barriers have been shown efficient in securing the bearers as well as preventing demonstrators from breaking the police line, their use could in fact make people more likely to throw items.

  • Types and design

Riot shields are usually made of clear polycarbonate that ranges from 6 and 4-6 millimetres (0.16-0.24 in) in thickness. Shields are made to resist shatter but are generally not ballistic-resistant. Certain shields designed to deter violent rioters provide a type of ballistic protection against slower velocity ammunition fired by shotguns or handguns. But, ballistic shields are used instead in situations where heavy-armed resistance is anticipated.

Shields can be rectangular or round in their shape and have lengths ranging from 36 to 48 inches (91-122 cm) and various dimensions. When utilized correctly, will shield the wearer at the highest point of their head up to the knees.Shields are typically cylindrical, and will have handles constructed out of metal or a reinforced plastic that is attached to them using adhesive or grommets.Handles are designed in a way that the person who is carrying them can grip them with a one hand and the shield typically has an additional layer of protection where the forearm rests on it, and Velcro strapping to hold arm in place.A shield could also have an area for storage for weapons such as a baton or other weapon that is not lethal, and some might be constructed to interlock with a shield either side to create a stronger wall for the shield. The kind of shield employed will differ based on the particular circumstances and purpose of a mission as well as budgets of departments.

Concave shields are developed for handcuffing and pining down prisoners or rioters, and electric shields that provide a non-lethal electric shock to anyone the shield is near are also exist. These guards which first began manufacturing in the late 1980s, are made of metal and have a strip around the outside of polycarbonate. The shock is delivered to the strips using an electronic button located on the side that is held by the person who is carrying it. Electric shields have been responsible for a variety of deaths. In the year 2011, Raytheon has filed an application for patents on an acoustic riot shield which releases "a low-frequency sound that resonances with respiratory organs, making it difficult breathing".

Protesters can also use their own riot shields that they have made up, composed of materials like timber, particle board or scrap metal.

  • Choweyarmor provides various types of anti riot shields and also supports customization. We also provide various new types of anti riot shields for police departments in various countries:

    Plastics Sucking Moulding, more toughness
The shield can stand strong shocks.

  • Utilization and effectiveness

The use of riot shields will be contingent on the decision of the commanding officer of force to fight protesters. It is suggested that security forces by riot shields use weaponry that is not deadly, overwatch, and reserve troops. The riot shield is intended to be primarily a weapon for defense but it can also be employed in an offensive way when it comes into direct contact with protesters. They are made to be fixed onto an side of the non-dominant arm, and then kept at a slight towards the back to redirect thrown objects towards the ground. When protesters come into direct encounter with the riot shields,, they are likely to attempt to grab the shields. If protesters try to grasp the shield's top security personnel are instructed to attack them with their own hands. If protesters try to grasp the shield's bottom then they are told to kneel down and then ram the shield into the ground using force and thereby pin the protester's hands or fingers. The shields used in riots are often utilized in conjunction with batons.

  • Riot shields can be employed alongside non-lethal weapons like CS gas to perform a procedure called the "Tap-down method". In this manner the officer who is carrying an explosive weapon will come up to an individual shield-bearer from behind, and then tap their shoulder. The shield-bearer will lower themselves to knees while maintaining the riot shield to the front. The officer carrying weapons that projectiles will lean towards the back of the shield bearer's knee, then extend the barrel of the weapon over the shield, and then start firing. This technique provides maximum protection for both the firer and shield-bearer. "Extraction teams" utilize shields for their benefit. The extraction team is typically comprised of reserve forces which are employed to remove individuals in danger, or to take down protesters. The team may be positioned at any time behind a wall. When commanded, two officers on their frontline will move backwards and then towards the right and left leaving a gap in which multiple officers will leave The gap will close after each officer is passed through. The person to be targeted will be identified as will the purpose for one police officer secure the person in question and the other to restrain the target. Other officers will offer protection. After the protester is secured, and the barrier wall is be temporarily be opened to allow the protester to move through. It is recommended that the extraction teams do not go further than 10 metres from the wall of shields.

Although riot shields provide the most effective security but their use could make people more inclined throwing objects towards bearers.A chief superintendent in the UK declared that protesters generally were not inclined to harm police, that hesitation seemed to vanish when officers were protected by the riot shields. It was noted that protesters do not have the right to throw objects until police arrive with shields and some will even throw objects at shields in order to show that they don't intend to hurt police.
